♥ D.I.Y Shabby Chic - Vintage Scarf Storage ♥

Hey guys! I have a lovely D.I.Y tutorial for you today!
This lovely Branch storage idea was just a little idea I tried on a whim but turned out to be so lovely, simple and cost effective that i thought i'd share it with you!

You can use this Storage solution to store Scarves as I have, or you could hang long necklaces from it too! A lovely way to show off your accessories and to give your room the Shabby Chic touch!

Here's a list of things you will need:

  • A branch, preferably quite a thick one!
  •  Ribbon
  • Two Nails & a Hammer
  • Paint (optional)

Step One

Acquire yourself a branch. My dad had just chopped a bush down in my garden so I nabbed one from there, but you could just head over to the park and pinch one from a tree!

Step Two

Remove and nibbly bits and pointy edges from the branch surface, this is especially important if you're hanging scarves from yours, you don't want to snag them!

Tip: Put some newspaper down to avoid turning your bedroom into the outer wilderness!

Step Three

Paint your stick any chosen color! Of course this is optional,i personally wish i had left mine bare, but it can add a special touch especially if you have a color scheme!

Tip: For a shabby chic look, paint your Stick with a matte white emulsion, allow to dry and lightly sandpaper any edges that would naturally wear down.

Step Four

Wrap your chosen ribbon around the most part of the Stick, leaving the ends exposed to reveal it's natural self!

Secure the ends by either tying them off or with some glue!

Make some simple slip knot loops for hanging by tying the ribbon around the Stick and knotting leaving enough excess to tie a loop from.

Remember, this doesn't have to be entirely neat! Like the famous quote from Clueless touches on, It's like a Monet, up close a big ol' mess and from afar a masterpiece.

Step Five

Time to hang! Place your Stickup to the wall you're hanging it on and mark at each end when it hangs straight.
Mine had a slight bend so it had to have one side slightly lower than the other in order to hang level.

Place two small nails into the marked positions and you're ready to go!

Step Six

Adorn you new Hanging Storage with your choice of accessory, I chose Scarves as I had so many nice ones I wanted out on display!

I just love how it looks hanging above my bed, the corner was quite bland and it's really brought some color to my white room!

I hope you try this out and love it as much as I do, Thanks for reading lovelies!

Haul | Vintage, Charity Shop, Fabric & Miss Selfridge |

I've done quite a substantial amount of Vintage/Charity shopping in the last week and I thought it was about time I shared all of my lovely finds with you!

I'll begin with the Vintage part of my Haul as it's only a few small pieces.
I've been looking high and low for more Vintage Hair  scarves, I love the way they set a hairstyle with a Vintage pin-up flair.
I went to Camden and Brick Lane in search of some lovely scarves and here's what I found!

Next, I went to Miss Selfridge and picked up this lovely woolen dress in the sale! It was nicely priced, however I missed the Buy one Get one Fee offer on the sale, so I could of Bagged two nice dresses! Dang it!
I love the color and pattern of this dress I think it looks very 1950's style! It was a size 4 and I managed to squish into it! Hooray!

I also took a trip around my local charity shops, scouring around for pretty dresses and home ware! My luck was in as I found Two dresses Including one from Topshop! A Straw handbag and A cute little pot for my shelves!
The Topshop dress reminded me of one that Hell Bunny had brought out, Which I pined over but couldn't afford, so finding this made me happy I didn't splash out!
The second dress, is most probably a home made one with it's lack of a label. It's a full skirted, cotton swing dress and the first of my collection! It's so pretty and fit's nicely and I cant wait to buy a petticoat for it!
