✿ An Afternoon With Vecchio Vintage ✿

Hello Everyone! On Friday I had the pleasure of being invited along to Afternoon Tea with Vecchio Vintage!

Vecchio Vintage is a wonderful store featuring a hand picked selection of Vintage clothes from all over, all chosen & Pined over by Sharmina, the lovely owner! She currently is hosting a small pop up store in Hanbury Street which is charming to say the least!

The afternoon was held at The Canvas Cafe on Hanbury Street in Brick Lane and I must say it's the best Cafe EVER. The name, Canvas Cafe is a suggestion of the 'Blank Canvas' the walls offer with a selection of questions to answer! They provide you with a pen to scribble away to your hearts content and I had my fair share of scribbles!

Enough about the Venue, onto the VINTAGE!!!

When we got into the basement of the canvas cafe there were loads of lovely Vintage goodies laid out to look at! Hats here, Jewels there & even CHANEL SLINGBACKS.

We got brought Tea as soon as we sat down which is EXCELLENT because everyone in England needs tea immediately and that's just law. We also had some lovely Orange-Lemon Drizzle cake and it was So Yummy!

Sharmina, The other Bloggers & Press People we're really excellent to talk to, there weren't many of us there but it meant we could all really have a nice chat about all kinds of things like fashion & styling, and non fashion related things Including Cats.. which you know I LOVED.

After our time at the Cafe We walked around to Sharmina's pop up shop which was only around the corner! There's an excellent Graffiti piece by the store which is lovely!

The Vecchio Vintage pop up store was the loveliest little shop! It really reminded me of my old garden shed (in a good way I promise!) It's a little haven painted white with rails of beautiful clothes all around and the best pieces hanging on the walls!

My little shed was painted white inside & had fairy lights, dresses adorning the walls, a huge mirror and a computer, I used to escape down there and watch films or listen to music in my younger years!

There were so many lovely things to look at! It really had a cutesy home feel & the clothes were all really unique and well picked! Also well priced may I add! Similar to Topshop prices, but the difference is you're getting one of a kind and not one of many!

There was also a little Christmas Hamper which to my surprise I won! I have the worst luck ever, It could of been just my name & my name in there and I probably would of put odds on still losing haha!

Me, The lovely Sharmina & my Hamper! Squee!

Might I just add, I loved Sharmina's outfit but totally forgot to say! It's so modern, warm & colorfully Vintage too!

Fellow Blogger Sincerely Sparks, Sharmina & I.
(The only photo where I don't have a crazy smile!)

We got a cute little goodie bag on our departure, Which I forgot to photograph! But they included a Canvas bag with the store logo,Which I am VERY excited about! Love a Canvas bag me!

That's all of my photos for now, but i'll be posting an In depth look at some bits I got from Vecchio Vintage & I'll show you my Hamper! YAY!

Do give Vecchio Vintage a look and if you can catch them Visit the popup stores! Sharmina is so lovely and there are some beautiful pieces for sale!

Fjallraven Kanken Backpack

I totally love these backpacks! Although I have the complete inability to pronounce the name, I love that they have little carry straps as well as the generic backpack ones! So chic, so cute! Tres practical!

I'm also on the lookout for a Vintage bedspread! I have an all white bedroom, which although is very nice & allows the room to feel very light I need some color to jump out! I've been absolutely loving all floral patterns from the 60's & 70's and think a Trip to the Haberdashery down brick lane is in order to see if he has any throws for me!

That's all for tonight! Hope you've been writing your Xmas lists for santa! What did you ask for?

✿ The Importance of Nylon Hair-scarves ✿ 1950's Style ✿

When it comes to 1950's Style, There's only one way to wear it. Glamour Glamour Glamour.

One key part of the Glamorous look is to be somewhat, Casual and effortless. A option often taken by the modern Pin-up ladies, Glamour is portrayed through Immaculate make-up and hair kept just so by the greatest accessory of them all, The Hair Scarves!

From Poodle head curls to a basic Pony Tail with a twist, The Hair Scarf adds an innocent & Sweet edge to a hairstyle and puts a cherry on top of a Simple outfit!

Here's a few of my Favorite styles!

The Pony Tail Bow

An easy and quick style, Simply put your hair into a pony tail at the crown of your head and Tie a hair scarf around the base of the pony, Positioning the bow at the top of your head and the tails by the side.
For a little twist to this style, Roll your fringe at the front with a Suicide Roll or Bumper Bang!
Simple and very 1950's Varsity school girl!

The Bouffant Plait

A little harder to do, scoop the back half of the top of your hair into a Beehive leaving half down to be plaited, using the backcomb and roll technique create the beehive and cover with the front of your hair, sleeking down any flyaways with Hairspray and then brush through the ends of your hair and Plait.
Fold your hair scarf into a long rectangle with pointed ends and tie into a bow around your head, resting the flat side over where the plait begins.

Slightly hard to do, but very sweet!

Oh, Beehive!

A super Glamorous hairstyle, which has taken me a long time to get right is the Beehive! Just like before, Use the backcomb and roll method to get a bouffant and then sleek all of your front parting over the top and hairspray!
With the rest of the hair, either plait or french twist it into a bun at the nape of your neck and pin.
Finish off by tying a big bow!

Girl Next Door

Of course, If you're too lazy to do an extravagant style you could simply have a Half up Half down one like this!
Remember to flick the ends of your hair in with straighteners to give it some shape!
Simply backcomb the back section of your hair and clip it back, then tie yourself a big bow over your hair!

Nylon Scarves can be rare to find, prepare to rummage in many a Vintage boutique and Charity shop to find them!

Rokit nonormally have loads of Nylon hidden in their Scarf Racks! You can also find a selection of colors on the American Pin up Clothing website!

Keep your eyes peeled on Etsy and Ebay as there are often Job lots available & Amazon sell packs of Magician Scarves that are hugely similar to these and are in a selection of colors!

That's all the pearls I have to Impart on you for now!

Happy Scarf-ing
